The act of moving clockwise or counterclockwise is a relative term based on astrophysics. Indicating at least from the construction of the great pyramid forward (Northern European religions have a similar; the labyrinth) a go right around the great pyramid, or go left around.

Going left indicates one perspective of traveling around the earth or sun. Going right indicates another perceptive of traveling around the earth or sun.

The walk way around the D and E rooms is designed to be a walkway of days and years depending on what side of the rooms you are on. Examination of the days and years of ones life is almost exactly what this poem is talking about.
