Constantinople

When emperor Constantine built his great city he took his library with him. In effect giving control of Rome over to the Vatican. Who took the Rock of Mars rocky outcropping (geological formation), used it as a query, and built the walls and original buildings.

Consequently the Vatican took advantage of the missing library now in Constantinople to de-educate the entire population.

In Rome and the western Roman empire under Vatican control scholars were hunted down and killed under the Heresy laws. Hundreds of years later a book was created providing rules and regulations regarding the proper Vatican approved procedures for finding and killing witches “Malleus Maleficarum (meaning "Hammer of the Witches" in Latin; "Der Hexenhammer" in German)”. The eastern Roman Empire Byzantium scholars for hundreds of years  were able to obtain real access to several millennia of scrolls and codex's without the Vatican wanting to burn/kill them on site.

It was not till the invention of the cannon in the east the library at Constantinople was under real threat. Consequently the rich petitioned to the Constantinople leaders to have copies or originals of the books to be shipped to their cities. The city of Bologna was among the first.

Since the cannon was coming; there was no way the walls of the city which held back most invaders since 300 ce was going to hold the next conquest off. So the library was copied and moved to major cities in Europe with  an appropriate family and army to protect them. When said types of motions occur; there is no reason at all for the minor details to be questioned. The minor details like the history of Egypt would not be questioned.
